Family Lens ("Family Lens," "we," "us," or "our") cares about your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through our website, how we use it, and the choices you have. By visiting or using this website, you agree to the practices described here.
Who we are
This website is operated by Family Lens. If you have any questions about this policy or your information, contact us at contact@familylens.org.
What information we collect
Information you give us. When you join our launch waitlist, we collect the email address you enter. Our signup form is processed by Formspree, a third-party form service, which delivers your message to us. You may also contact us by email, in which case we receive whatever information you include.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we automatically receive certain technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, referring pages, and the pages and links you interact with. We use Google Analytics to help us understand this in aggregate.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics, which sets cookies and collects usage data to help us measure traffic and improve the site. This data is used in aggregate and is not used to personally identify you. You can:
- Disable or delete cookies through your browser settings; and
- Opt out of Google Analytics across all sites using Google's opt-out browser add-on.
How we use your information
- To notify you when Family Lens launches and to send early-access invitations;
- To respond to your questions or requests;
- To understand how the site is used so we can improve it; and
- To protect the security and integrity of our website.
We will only email you about Family Lens. You can unsubscribe at any time by following the link in our emails or by contacting us.
How we share information
- Service providers: companies that operate parts of our site on our behalf, such as Formspree (form delivery), Google Analytics (usage measurement), and our website host. They may only use your information to provide their services to us.
- Legal reasons: if required to comply with the law, a legal request, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of Family Lens, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers: if Family Lens is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
Children's privacy
This website is intended for parents and other adults, not for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through this website. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at contact@familylens.org and we will delete it.
Family Lens is a product designed to help parents make decisions about their children's reading. When our app launches, any collection of children's information will be done with verifiable parental consent and in accordance with COPPA. For more on protecting children's privacy online, see the FTC's resources at consumer.ftc.gov.
How long we keep your information
We keep your waitlist email address until our launch communications are complete or until you ask us to remove it, whichever comes first. Aggregate analytics data may be retained for longer in line with our analytics provider's settings.
Your choices and rights
- You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time.
- You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing contact@familylens.org.
- Depending on where you live (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act), you may have additional rights regarding your personal information. We will honor those rights as required by applicable law.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect the information we collect. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
International visitors
We are based in the United States. If you access the site from elsewhere, you understand that your information may be processed in a country with different data-protection laws than your own.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective date" above and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of the site after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
